I was looking through the forums and saw Amazon sells one of these units, but there wasn't much in the way of reviews. I've had mine since early 2008 on a FLHTC and really, really like it. "Back in the day" it was cheaper than the current model, but pretty much same thing. Difference between then and now... much more tech support and some neat additions to the program.
Tired of having to go to a dealer to make any changes to your bike's performance? This unit will allow you to adjust your fuel/ air ratio to run at the optimum mixture, and will also allow you to set other parameters in place like temperature alarm, idle, timing, etc if you want to play with the program. It has base maps for a ton of different set-ups (engine size, cam, pipes, etc) that you can load to get the system very close, and then the part that's very sweet, the Autotune will get your bike that much closer to perfect operating condition.
Be aware, you put this on before your warranty is up, there's a chance your dealer will deny any claims involving your motor. Suggest talking with the Service Manager at your dealer, a lot are aware of T-Max, but the problem may come from the bike builder who the dealer has to notify of vehicle repairs under warranty. It's like anything else; you "play" with OEM stuff on any vehicle that's under warranty... it could come back and bite you.
I carry a netbook with me and the program on it in case I need/ want to fine tune it. I had one O2 sensor that went bad; I replaced it with a new one from Zippers and it runs great. May not be for everyone because of the warranty thing, but the ability to adjust different parameters in your bike's performance is a nice thing to have if you want to. One thing I discovered is that the tech support, while good before, has even gotten better! You can send them a map from the computer you utilize to interact with the ECM, they can look at what the bike's doing in relationship to the map, and help you adapt it from there. That's way cool.
I am just a satisfied customer who wanted to pass along what I know about T-Max. I put on some pipes and new hi flow air filter, quite satisfied.
Will it give you a stock bike that can turn 7's at the track... NO!
